Dr. Sonya Ann Reilly
BSc (Hons), PhD, DMD
Dr. Sonya Ann Reilly is the proud owner of Smile Savers Dental in Knocklyon and a highly qualified dental professional with a strong academic and clinical background in both science and dentistry. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree from University College Dublin (UCD), where she laid the foundation for her career in healthcare and biomedical sciences. She went on to complete a PhD in Dentistry, focusing on advanced research in the field, and later earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in Hungary.
Dr. Reilly has a particular interest in oral and maxillofacial surgery, combining scientific research with practical surgical experience to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care. Her diverse training and international education have shaped a well-rounded, patient-centered approach rooted in clinical excellence, scientific knowledge, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Driven by a passion for improving patient outcomes and advancing dental science, Dr. Reilly brings dedication, expertise, and integrity to every aspect of her practice.
Dr. Clodagh McAllister
Appointed President of the Irish Dental Association
Dublin-based general practitioner Dr. Clodagh McAllister has been appointed President of the Irish Dental Association (IDA). A former clinic owner in Fairview and part-time tutor at Dublin Dental School, Dr. McAllister brings a wealth of experience, having served on various IDA committees and played a key role in negotiations with the Department of Social Protection.
In her address, she emphasized the importance of unity among dental professionals, mental health support, stronger member engagement, and fair representation in national health policy discussions. She reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for better working conditions, greater access to dental care, and meaningful collaboration with government bodies to strengthen the sector.
Dr. McAllister stated: "Ultimately, our work is about people and ensuring they can expect good dental health as part of their overall wellbeing."
